Putting out fires
My friend Roger graduated from the Los Angeles Fire Department training academy in December. Now he's in there, in the thick of it, and I think it's amazing. He left a career track in sports media to pursue something more meaningful to him.
He sent me a t-shirt this week to thank me for my support. I'll wear it proudly.

Nancy,
We're proud that Roger chose the LAFD as his life's work. You can rest assured that his daily efforts do indeed make a difference.
We welcome you to follow significant incidents handled by the Los Angeles Fire Department at our blog, and to possibly catch a glimpse of him in our on-line photo gallery.
Please let us know when your travels my bring you to Los Angeles. There's plenty of room at our firehouse kitchen table, and always a warm cup of coffee with your name on it.
Respectfully Yours in Safety and Service,
Brian Humphrey

What an offer! Thank you :)
